Tree Branch Headboard

Materials needed: Tree branches and limbs Glue strips Hand or power saw After a storm is a good time to go out into your yard to search for fallen tree branches. Theyre all the rage in creating new home accents around your house. You can use twigs to craft rustic coasters, larger sticks for making place mats, and other twigs, limbs, and branches, to create accents all over your home. Most of those things are decorative, but if you really want a substantial piece, make a tree branch headboard.

There really arent any rules about picking out branches for the headboard. The limbs should all be fairly close in diameter but they dont have to match exactly. Some limbs can be long and others can be shorter. Or, your design can be made where all of the branches are the same length. None of the branches or limbs should be huge in diameter.

To prepare the chosen tree branches for use as a headboard, scrub away any excess bark and make sure that each piece is clean. Note: branches with no bark are the very best choices. Unless you get lucky, and pick up branches without twigs, or branches that are all similar in length, youll need a saw. Although a power saw makes the job quick and easy you could also use a handsaw. Remove any twigs from each branch and then cut the pieces that you want for your headboard. Glue strips make it really easy to hang the branches on the wall. Just follow the instructions enclosed to apply glue strips - found at a home improvement store - to the wall. Use one or more strips for each branch, mounting the glue strip as well as the branch, vertically. Butt the sticks together, side-by-side, to make them the width of the bed. The branches dont necessarily have to go to the floor as long as they reach at least to the bottom of the mattress. They can be as tall as you want them to be. There are so many different looks that you can create with the tree branch headboard. All ends of the branches can be sawed off neat and straight, or can be crooked and staggered. You can paint all of the branches one color, or make different colors, and create a striped design. Flip the look around, mount branches horizontally, and make something totally unique. If you have downed branches in your yard your headboard is just out there waiting on you. Gather up the branches, clean them, and stick them to your wall. The rustic look, or painted wood look, will become a favorite home accent of yours - perfect for anyones bedroom.
